Three miles south of Monroe, this oxbow lake near the Snoqualmie River provides bird habitat and a little bit of trail wandering.

The Crescent Lake unit, managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife also contains a 25-acre marsh and about 200 acres of deciduous trees -- so it's an excellent diversion in the autumn.

From the north entrance, two main dirt roads split off after crossing a large culvert with wetland ditch on either side. They enter the woods and turn into semi-maintained wide woodlands trails. There are several trails to choose from and offer wonderful views of birds, insects and mushrooms!

Be aware that hunting is permitted here, so if you do visit for fall colors, be sure to have your orange on.
