Get away from it all. Seriously. Deep in the heart of Olympic National Park, the Lillian River Trail is a quiet footpath branching off the wide, quiet Elwha River Trail. Tuck yourself away at Lillian River Camp, then take the short hike to the end of the Lillian River Trail.

Follow the Elwha River Trail from the Whiskey Bend Trailhead, 6.5 miles of flat to gently graded, wide-open trail. Pass historic structures, springy mosses, and quiet forest along the way to the intersection with Lillian River trail. Just under a mile from the intersection is Idaho Falls, a sweet little glen full of dark green foliage and rocks, as well as babbling Idaho Creek.

The junction of Lillian River Trail is barely marked, just a weathered old sign on the ground to your right, and a faint footpath in the salal to your left. The trail itself is much narrower than the wide tread of the Elwha River Trail, but that simply adds to the remote feeling of this area. Dive back into the Lillian River drainage, climbing a gentle 600 feet over 3 miles. Cross two falls, and finally dead end at the banks of Lillian River in deep silence.

WTA Pro Tip: A campsite for Lillian River Trail is back on the Elwha River Trail, about a half mile past the junction for the Lillian River.
