This easy-to-moderate hike brings you through lush meadows, planted forest trees, and a stump-filled clearing to the monument dedicated to Robert Henry Hauberg, the founder of the Pilchuck Tree Farm. The monument meadow has great views of the valley below plus the Sound and the islands.

Be aware that because this hike is on private property, visitors must fill out a release and mail it to the Pilchuck Recreation Association before hiking here. Find out more about the release here: http://www.pilchuckra.org/

Once you've filled out your release, head out! The trail goes up through Pilchuck Meadows. At the end of the meadows just about a mile in, the trail enters a stand of planted Douglas Firs. The trail exits the trees onto a road. Continue up the road about 0.2 miles and look for the trail that goes gently up hill at a curve in the road. Follow this trail for about a quarter mile. When the trail forks, take the trail to the left on up the mountain. This trail eventually doubles back and intersects a road. You may go to the right about 100 feet and pick up the Stump Fiesta trail to the monument, or you may go left down the road and pick up the Stump Fiesta trail after about 0.3 mile.

The Stump Fiesta trail goes through a large clearing filled with stumps. The trail branches several times, but if you keep heading generally west, you will reach the monument. There are many muddy areas on the trails, but all can be avoided easily by walking alongside the path. Spring and fall are a good time to come, before the mountain bikers descend on the area.

WTA Pro-Tip: Be aware that you will likely be sharing the trails with stock and mountain bikes, as this area is multi-use. Also keep in mind that this area is open thanks to an agreement with Pacific Denkmann Co., and is an active logging operation. Please respect their regulations for use of the land.
