The "stay close to home" advice of the #RecreateResponsibly messaging motivated me to finally check out Dash Point State Park. My sister and I looped together just under 5 miles of hiking the lovely trails in the forest (it would be easy to just do 1-2 miles or explore all the loops for more than double that much!). The forest was alive with birdsong and we saw more Spotted Towhees than I had ever seen before. We also enjoyed some quality time on the beach watching osprey and eagles dive for fish and even spotted some harbor porpoises in the distance.

We arrived right as the park opened at 8am and saw only 6 other hikers while on the park's hiking trails. By the time we stopped back at the beach before we departed around 10:45am, the parking lot had probably 3 dozen cars and many more people on the beach, but it was not difficult to maintain distance.
