Spent Saturday night here with two gal pals for a quick escape from Seattle. As noted by other trip reporters and the hike description, this would make for a great first backpack for folks of all ages.

Other trip reporters have covered the trail & road conditions well, I just wanted to add some notes about camping here:

1. Fires really should only be burned in the metal rings!

2. All hail toilets with doors! What a treat for an overnight.

3. There are a lot more campsites than initially meet the eye. All of the sites on the side of the lake you arrive at were taken when we got there (~2pm on a non-rainy Saturday). If you cross the creek (over a very stable log), there are a plethora of other established sites. There is also a misleading second "toilets" sign on the far side over there that actually leads to a handful of awesome campsites (with fire rings!) dispersed up the hillside. Several of these were not occupied when we turned in for the night (~10pm). I think folks were confused by the "toilets" sign (as it does not also say "campsites"). The toilet on this side pales in comparison to the other facility, it's just one hole in the ground with no privacy. We ended up with plenty of privacy and space for two tents in our wonderful, shaded site.

Finally, not about camping but FOOD. We stopped at the Hama Hama Oyster Saloon on our way to the trail and WOW was it worth it. Highly recommend the grilled oysters!
