Sometimes I do solo trips, but sometimes I get to hang out a group--and today's group was the xc team! Don't tell the other xc teams, but running this trail is our team's secret weapon for becoming stronger and faster. According to one runner, it's her favorite route because it's so beautiful. Another runner says that she's not alone in saying that the upper section of the trail looks just like she imagines Narnia. Of course, a lot of the girls think it's pretty tough, too--but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? The trail is in great condition, but watch out for wasps. I took the photo of the girls on the rock without realizing that I was standing less than a foot away from a wasp nest; the yellow jackets were swarming on the ground at the summit. This trail is also one of my personal secret weapons for Hike-a-Thon: it's close to town, so it's easy for me to stop by and get in a quick 5 miles. Thanks, WTA, for improving the loop!
